Current Chairperson/Board Vacancies:

JBE Wellness Initiative Chairperson
The Jacksonville Beach Elementary Wellness Initiative promotes and supports programs to increase awareness in five key areas: Nutrition, Physical Fitness, Mental Health, Prevention and Hygiene. The initiative educates and inspires the school community to make healthy choices at school and at home. The Wellness Initiative is made up of volunteers: teachers, parents, students (Student Council Officers), and the school principal. A parent Chairperson is responsible for facilitating monthly meetings (scheduling, developing agenda, consulting with Principal and members, etc.), recruiting and coordinating Classroom Wellness Parents (volunteers who conduct activities, education and programs in the classroom), supporting the Buddy Program (opt-in program that matches upper elementary and lower elementary students for quarterly mentor/friendship activities), assisting with various school-wide Wellness Initiatives and activities. The Chairperson role time commitment is approximately 2-3 hours/month with flexible options for accomplishing the role in-school or remotely (no requirement to be present at school). Rewards Coordinator
The Rewards Coordinator (formerly the Box Tops Coordinator) helps JBE earn funds from school reward programs like Box Tops, Coca-Cola GIVE, and others.  The Rewards Coordinator’s responsibilities include: researching school rewards programs; determining which programs are best for FOJBE PTO participation; encouraging participation from the school community through PTO channels like Facebook, website, and email; and coordinating the collection of items needed to fulfill the rewards.
For the first quarter of this school year, we cannot collect physical items like Coca Cola caps, but several programs such as Box Tops allow electronic participation. The Rewards Coordinator can determine which programs are feasible to begin now, and which can begin later, once collection of physical items at the school is permitted.
This position requires about 1-2 hours per month, almost all of which can be done from home or during non-school hours.  If interested, email: [email protected]

Homeroom Parent
Homeroom Parents are the point of contact between the classroom teacher, the PTO, and other parents in the class.  Homeroom Parents work closely with the teacher to coordinate class celebrations, enrichment activities, and other events at the teacher’s guidance (and when deemed safe to do so in accordance with DCPS policy). Homeroom Parents also lead teacher appreciation activities to include annual Teacher Appreciation Week in May and teacher birthdays.  This volunteer opportunity is a fun way to work closely with your child’s teacher and get to know the class community (students and parents)! Feel free to team up with another parent (or more!) to fill this role jointly. This SCUBA team needs a good diver to help organize the class network, enhance teacher-family-PTO communication, and encourage community & connection.  If interested, please inform your child’s teacher and email [email protected] with your name, contact information (email/phone), and your assigned teacher. Then just await further information about a virtual Homeroom Parent orientation. With your help, we’ll swim through this year!
Look for a sign-up sheet at orientation to sign up as a HR Parent.
