Joining the PTO is one of the easiest ways to support JBE. Membership helps fund classroom resources, educational programs, family events, teacher appreciation, and many of the extras that make our school special.
As a PTO member, you'll also receive a yearly carline tag, have voting rights at PTO meetings, and have a voice in decisions that shape our programs, events, and future improvements at JBE.

There are several ways to volunteer at JBE.
School-day volunteers must complete a DCPS volunteer application and background screening before volunteering on campus. There are two clearance levels based on the type of activity:
Level 1 Volunteers serve under the direct supervision of DCPS staff and are not left alone with students, such as classroom assistance, media center support, PTO activities during the school day, and other staff-directed volunteer opportunities.
Level 2 Volunteers are required for anyone where students are not be under the direct supervision of DCPS staff or may be responsible for supervising students, including field trip chaperones. Level 2 approval includes fingerprinting and a $74.50 fee paid by the volunteer.
Many PTO volunteer opportunities take place outside of school hours, such as family events, fundraising, decorating, assembling materials, and event setup or cleanup, and do not require DCPS volunteer clearance.
Visit our Volunteer Opportunities page to compare volunteer levels, explore current opportunities, and complete the required DCPS registration if needed.
